From snip to finished image

  1. Add the screenshot. Drop it on the board, press Ctrl+V (⌘+V on a Mac) straight after taking it, or choose a file.
  2. Pick a background. Twelve paint-chip presets, a light or dark wash made from the screenshot's own colours, a solid colour or gradient of your choice, or transparent.
  3. Set the space around it. Padding, the canvas shape, the corner radius and the shadow all update the preview as you go.
  4. Save it. Download a PNG, JPEG or WebP at half, normal, double or triple size, or copy the image and paste it straight into a document or chat.

Settings that tend to work

Padding of about 5 to 10 percent of the screenshot's width looks balanced; the starting value follows that rule for each new image. Match the corner radius to the interface you captured, and remember a Retina screenshot has twice the pixels, so it needs twice the radius.

Use Soft for documentation, Lifted or Deep for a landing page, and Cast for a flat, printed look. PNG keeps interface text sharp; JPEG and WebP make smaller files for photo-heavy shots.

Questions

Are my screenshots uploaded anywhere?

No. Your browser opens the image and draws the result on this page. Nothing is sent to a server, and once the page has loaded it keeps working without a connection.

Why is the saved image bigger than my screenshot?

Padding adds pixels on every side, and a fixed canvas shape adds more on two sides. Screenshots from Retina and other high-density screens are also twice the size they look. Choose 0.5× under Export to halve the result.

Can I keep the background transparent?

Yes. Choose the checkerboard chip (Transparent) and save as PNG or WebP. The shadow stays semi-transparent, so it falls naturally on whatever you place the image over. JPEG has no transparency, so it gets a white background.

Copy image does not work in my browser. What now?

Copying an image needs a browser that can write images to the clipboard; current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox can. If a setting or an older browser blocks it, use Download and drag the saved file where you need it.

Which file format should I choose?

PNG for interface screenshots: text and thin lines stay crisp and it supports transparency. JPEG or WebP make much smaller files when the screenshot is mostly photos; WebP also keeps transparency.
